We are rapidly moving toward the brink of annihilation as the climate crisis deepens. Meanwhile, both Labor and Liberal Politicians remain committed to expanding Australia's fossil fuel industry and our very own uni administration remains quietly committed to investing in it!! We are up against a lot; we direly need to rebuild a student movement that seeks to disrupt the disastrous status quo.
I've spent my time on campus as a dedicated activist. I've organised hundreds of students at ANU to join in the climate strikes, from 2019 to today. For years the resources of ANUSA have been squandered by resume-padding bureaucrats. We need ANUSA to play a leading role in building a student fightback for real action on climate change and for our universities to break ties with the fossil fuel industry.
