As a student who relies on welfare to survive, I understand the barriers low SES students face. Disadvantaged students at ANU are facing soaring rent prices, attacks on tertiary education, fee increases and welfare programs. However as much as this is a local issue, it is also a national issue. Now more than ever it is imperative to elect local activists to the NUS who’s only concern is to represent ANU students - not a political party. From decreasing the age of independence to stopping the closure of the Braddon centrelink office, I will work cooperatively with other elected NUS delegates around the country to listen to everyday working students, and use NUS resources to uplift them to fight against classism in the ACT. This is all part of the Grassroots ANUSA plan to create a better NUS. You can read more about our policies here:
